Abstract. This paper considers the inverse problem of determining the kernel of the integral term in an integro-differential pseudoparabolic equation with distributed data over a bounded domain. First, the direct problem is studied. The direct problem represents the first initial-boundary value problem for this integrodifferential equation. For this direct problem, the inverse problem is studied, which consists of determining the kernel of the integral under a given additional condition regarding the solution of the direct problem. Using the semi-inversion method, this problem is replaced by an equivalent system of integral equations for the unknown functions, and, based on a contraction mapping, the global unique solvability of this inverse problem in the space of continuous functions with weighted norms is proved.
Key words: pseudoparabolic equation, integro-differential equation, inverse problem, semi-inversion
method, contraction mapping principle.
